We left the last train station before dark.
At the threshold — two suitcases.
Two suitcases, one borrowed shopfront, and a master we'd never met. The street was quieter than any evening we'd known in the city. We stood at the door a long time before turning the key.

II. HANDWORK
ROLL 02 · dawn prep / flour on hands
My hands didn't know the rhythm yet.
Before dawn — flour still rising.
Dawn prep, flour on the counter, the same question every morning: would today's noodles hold? The master barely spoke. By winter, the shop was ours to open — and the town started lining up before we flipped the sign.

Some communities had never seen their own valley until we flew over it. The footage played at the local festival. An elderly farmer watched himself walking his field from the sky — and didn't say a word for a long time.
